Home Depot Catches Fire

The home depot on Blossom hill caught on fire, it quickly changed from a one-alarm fire to a five-alarm fire. The fire started at 6:00 pm and was deemed under control at 11:45 pm. The cause of the fire is still unknown and is under investigation. The fire was reported in the lumber section so there is a possibility of correlation. It is reported that the cause is not due to any criminal activity. The home depot contains glues, pesticides and paint which contain toxic chemicals when burned. It was reported that the store’s sprinklers worked but did not go off. 

College Board Makes Major Changes To SAT

The Rise Of Retail Theft

As COVID protocols are gradually lifted, high-end retail stores are becoming targets of shoplifting, both by mass mobs and individuals. However, this chaos did not spur out of the blue: proposition 47, ratified in 2014, now classifies shoplifting of items valued under $950 as a misdemeanor, perpetuating crime and an “anything goes” mindset. 

Later Start Times And Longer School Days

On October 13th of 2019, the governor of California signed Senate Bill 328 (SB 328) that requires middle schools to start no earlier than 8:00 am, and high schools to start no earlier than 8:30 am in response to the rigor of school coursework and extracurricular activities that encourage students to stay up late to finish homework; this in turn decreases students’ attention span and productivity throughout the school day.

CUHSD Teachers Fight Against Pay Cut

It isn’t news that the Campbell High School Teachers Association (CHSTA) and the Campbell Union High School District (CUHSD) are in a period of tense negotiations. While the initial concern revolved around a “pay cut” according to the union, these concerns have extended far beyond the issue of teacher salaries.

J. C. Penny, also known as JCP, is an American department chain with over 689 locations throughout the 49 states and Puerto Rico. The company stands for James Cash Penny. JCP was the original owner and opened the first location of J.C Penny’s in 1902. J.C Penny will turn 119 years old this year. J.C Penny is a Limited Liability Corporation. It offers a wide variability of items. Some of their items include a huge variety of clothes, home furnishing, jewelry, cosmetics, and cookware. Their main competitors include Kohls’s, Target, Ross, Burlington Stores, and Walmart. The company’s main mission is to help customers find what he/she wants in less time, money, and energy. J.CPenny wants to bring the simplification of shopping. Giving the customer fewer options lets the people stress less with all the options. J. C. Penny is also a multi-plant firm and an oligopoly. Due to the pandemic, the company was forced to file bankruptcy.

US-China Trade Relationship

The trade deficit with China was $310.8 billion in 2020, and the number continues to rise. As an economic leader in the past, the United States had been tasked with supporting emerging nations in their efforts to construct a stable economic system. China was no exception, since we have been one of their most important trading partners. The United States aided China’s economy to become one of the best in the world, but now that they have reached the level of success, they no longer want or need our help. However, we, The United States, are the ones who need help now. 

Building Remodeling At Leigh

Leigh has been in some state of remodeling for over ten years already and doesn’t seem like it will be finishing anytime soon. For example, the cafeteria, the PAC, the football field, the track, air conditioning, and boy baseball dugouts projects have all been recently completed a few years ago, bringing in needed change to the school.
